This is according to Google, as of last week. Am I wrong to view that as more of a threat than a benefit?
Speaking of benefits, it's Open Enrollment time at the office. Ugh. The main issue there is estimating medical expenses for the coming year. That always takes time. But I will be sticking with Kaiser, as always, and whatever this year's version of the dental plan is. And the same values for additional life insurance, AD & D, etc. as before.
I would probably mind less if this weren't also the same time window as having to write my annual Performance Evaluation. And this year? Also finishing up house stuff and having to buy basic things (mattresses, at least 1 rug, window treatments for the bedroom and one of the bathrooms, and stools or table/chairs for the kitchen). Plus, move back into the house.
And of course, major work deadlines before the end of the month. I mean, kill me now before the stress does it anyway. \o?
I hope those of you in the Milton regions survived the onslaught. Tampa looks to have been very hard hit, and I know Helene caused problems all the way up into North Carolina. :(

Date: 2024-10-14 08:39 pm (UTC)We have that kind of weather in Sacramento sometimes, in the winter. And the weather service just refers to it as a "wind storm," though with the rain and the gust 50-75mph, how is that not a hurricane?

Date: 2024-10-15 06:57 pm (UTC)Especially this time of year. It's my birthday month, and I so rarely get to enjoy it. One year, I was online until 9pm on my birthday, finishing up the Performance Eval before the deadline. Ugh.

Date: 2024-10-16 01:24 am (UTC)The birthday was awesome, thank you! Lizbeth and I made a Mexican meatball soup called albondigas that I'm quite fond of, and my sister and brother-in-law came over to help the rest of us consume it. There were cool gifts like a $50.00 Amazon gift card (which I will naturally spend all on books), another gift card for the Texas Roadhouse restaurant, and so on. :) I used to characterize myself as a person that didn't care much about food, but you wouldn't know it reading that list, huh? LOL
October 8 is also Lizbeth's and my wedding anniversary, and I agreed that she could upgrade our living room ceiling fan to a very fancy light fixture. We celebrated the birthday/anniversary over the previous weekend, but the "wagon wheel"--my name for the light fixture thingy--was actually installed on October 8. LOL

Date: 2024-10-16 04:49 pm (UTC)Or is it a "fandolier", a combination of a fan and a lighting fixture designed to keep it from looking like a fan? Because I considered some of those for the living room until the designer vetoed them as "too modern."

Her complaint was that the living room was never well lit, but now she says the wagon wheel needs a dimmer. LOL It's always something.

I can see why you call it a wagon-wheel thingy. It looks nice, though, and it is a form of chandelier. :D
