If you don't get daffs where you have a clump, I'd suggest dividing them. Dig the entire thing up, separate each bulb, and plant them all separate from each other. No more clumps. You won't get any flowers this year, nor likely next year, but the year after that you should.
Daffodils are supposed to be divided in the fall, but they're hardy. You can do it now.
