Well... There IS a port-a-potty on the property (it has been there for all the construction people), and when I have to spend a lot of time over there, it is necessary! But no good for the middle of the night. And really, the bathroom they're tiling today (YAY!!!) is also at the far end of the house from our bedroom, which will not be good over the 2-3 days (I hope only that) that we will have only that one available.
My Dad had probably 200 books by the time he died. We moved SO OFTEN when I was a child (4 times, and then he moved 3 more times after I left home) that those boxes of books almost dwarfed all our other possessions. I do NOT want to live like that, and in HalfshellHusband's case, these are books he has either read once or not at ALL. That is what libraries are for! We aren't living in the 19th century, for heaven's sake.
My rule for myself is that I only buy books that I think I will read more than once-- which also applies to Kindle purchases. At this point, we have the sum total of about 1 shelf of my books, 1 shelf of childrens' books that we're saving, and everything else is his. This is out of a total of 5 tall bookshelves. *weeps* I hope he's serious about reducing.
We're also thinking that we won't get a replacement turntable, so we can get rid of our vinyl records. Even the things that used to be harder to come by are generally available on Spotify now, and I have most of my favorite and rare classical pieces on CD.
