This is EXCELLENT. I had a feeling, based on the names and the way you so deeply explored this event, that you based this on The Flying Dutchman, and how the Dutch use keel hauling as punishment (and basically in the way you explained and described here). That's a history I know well, so to read a fictionalized version of it was utterly captivating. I loved the flow of the dialogue, as well as the descriptions of what Pieter was going through. And that ending - that's a gut punch indeed.
