Ok, this is amazing!! I love the language, the sentence structure, the older feel to it all. I love the names, his love for Melati, the way he asked for her hand in marriage. That Captain is such a terrible murderous man, aaaah, I was so sad for poor Pieter!! I thought he was weakened and might do that dry-drowning thing, but when he woke and it was cold and the ship was in disrepair, that's when I got it and was like oooooh spooky stuff!!

Great job with this, it was very captivating, and I really enjoyed it!
